Family of Philanthropists

The Fleeman family is renowned for their philanthropic endeavors, with each member actively contributing to the betterment of Northwest Arkansas. Bill Fleeman, the family’s patriarch, lost his battle with cancer in 1999. In honor of Bill’s legacy, the family launched the Bill Fleeman Gentlemen of Distinction Gala in 2003. 2023 marked the 20th anniversary of the yearly event that raises funds for Hope Cancer Resources, which directly supports local cancer patients and provides community cancer education and resources.

Bill Fleeman

Remembered not just as a shrewd businessman but as a figure of compassion and generosity, always prioritized giving back to those in need, often anonymously. His character was defined by acts of kindness, especially noted during his time at MD Anderson, where he would discreetly offer financial assistance to families struggling with the burdens of cancer. In his honor, Hope Cancer Resources, along with Jeannie Fleeman’s help, started the Bill Fleeman Gentlemen of Distinction Gala. This has been a beacon of hope, raising over $3 million for cancer patients. This legacy of support continues to make a profound impact on cancer care and patient support in Northwest Arkansas, embodying Bill’s spirit of quiet generosity and unwavering care for others.

Jeannie Fleeman

Beyond her corporate achievements, Jeannie’s philanthropic efforts are equally noteworthy. As the driving force behind the creation of the Bill Fleeman Gentlemen of Distinction Fundraiser, she honors her husband’s memory while providing invaluable support to cancer patients. Awarded the Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year in 2012, Jeannie’s humility and dedication shine through her response to the honor, emphasizing that the true reward of giving is the ability to make a tangible difference in others’ lives. Her extensive involvement with various local charities, nominated by Hope Cancer Resources, cements her status as a beacon of generosity and a pillar of the community, reflecting a profound commitment to fostering positive change and support where it’s needed most.

Todd Fleeman

Todd Fleeman’s philanthropic efforts reflect the deep-seated values of compassion and community service instilled by his parents, Bill and Jeannie Fleeman. As president of the Law Enforcement Assistance Program (L.E.A.P), he supports local law enforcement and their families, leveraging community resources for assistance during challenging times. Previously, Todd served on the foundation board of Hope Cancer Resources, advocating for cancer patients and their families. His wife, Melissa, continues this commitment by actively serving on both boards, furthering the Fleeman family’s enduring impact on crucial community causes.

Hope Cancer Resources and the Hope Cancer Foundation

The mission of the Hope Cancer Resources Foundation, established in 1998, is to provide financial support for the programs and services of Hope Cancer Resources. Hope Cancer Resources has been serving the Northwest Arkansas community for over twelve years.

In that time, the Hope Cancer Resources Foundation has invested over $20 million in funding to provide the administrative, fundraising and marketing expenses year to year as well as significant financial support for our patient services. The organization relies on the Foundation’s support and financial health to serve and continue to serve patients diagnosed with any type of cancer.
